The Faith Formation Program Faith formation provides religious instruction and spiritual formation for children in grades 1-12, first communion, youth Confirmation, adults Confirmation, rite of Christian initiation of adults. Whole family have the opportunity to learn the teachings of the Catholic Church, grow in love for God, praise God as members of our parish community, and cultivate faith-based friendships. The primary goal of our program is to help children and adults develop a relationship with God that supports, sustain, challenges, and nurtures them throughout their lives. Our program consists of Sunday classes, seasonal celebrations, and special activities such as nativity play, saints project, Stations of the Cross,
Walking in faith is a lifelong process and children and adults ongoing formation as they grow so that their faith can grow according to their questions and illusions. Students do not “finish” their religious education once they have made First Communion, any more than they “finish” their academic education once they learn to read. Our program prepares you for a lifelong journey of faith.
Preparation for Children First Communion/Youth Confirmation St. Gerard Parish has established a policy to prepare children for Sacraments. We wish to make it easier for children to grow in the faith as Catholic Christians, class attendance regularly, and to participate in the Sacramental life of the Church. Children must participate in straight two years of faith formation before receiving the Sacraments. Therefore, children who register for the first time in September 2023 will receive the Sacrament in 2025.
