PURPOSE OF THIS MINISTRY: To proclaim God’s Word at Mass.
WHAT DOES THIS MINISTRY DO?
Prays, prepares, and proclaims God’s Word with clarity and grace.
WHAT IS EXPECTED OF A MEMBER? To serve at Mass as scheduled, to prayerfully prepare to proclaim the readings, and to do so in a way that is readily absorbed by the Faithful at Mass.
WHAT SPECIFIC TALENTS, SKILLS, ETC., MUST A MEMBER OF THIS MINISTRY NEED?
Strong, clear , proclamatory voice. Ability to project. Grammatically adept and skilled (pronunciations, awareness of effective phrasing, etc.). Articulate.
WHAT IS THE TIME COMMITMENT? Attend Masses as scheduled and arrive at least 20 minutes before Mass.
ARE THERE REGULAR MEETINGS? WHEN? Training – individual or group – as necessary.
WHAT ELSE DO PROSPECTIVE MEMBERS NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THIS MINISTRY This is a most fulfilling way to serve the Lord and His St. Gerard community! The community relies on lectors to proclaim well in order that the Mass be full and meaningful.
